MAC Collection- Venomous Villians

MakeupByKaylena >> 8:57 AM >> , ,
Hey Chicas,

I'm happy to report that MAC is coming out with a Disney inspired Venomous Villians Collection. This collection is to be released in September 2010 (just in time for my birthday! ^_^)
And will include some of Disney's most evil villians!

As of right now there are not any pictures of the products availble in this collection that I could find, however, I have found a preview video that you can watch to maybe spot a glimpse of the villians featured in this collection.

Weekend Look of the Day- Purple Lotus

MakeupByKaylena >> 10:54 AM >> , ,

Hey Chicas,

This is a look I wore this weekend to run some errands. Like going to the bank, out to eat and to the mall... including a trip to MAC! That I will gladly share with all of you in a haul soon.

This look was super simple to do and it uses a few products that haven't gotten much love for a while.
I used a couple newer products and some old.

You know I love my purples and I think this is a great way to make your makeup and your face stand out in a crowd, but it's still subtle and fresh looking to wear on a weekend day to run the "not so glamrous" errands, but it makes a statement! Which I love to do!

Inspired Look of the Day - Arabian Bollywood-esque Makeup

MakeupByKaylena >> 10:07 PM >> , ,

Hey Chicas,
This is a look I did last week that the beautiful Ness requested. I asked my followers on Twitter to give me a makeup look to do because it was the weekend and I was bored and couldn't think of a look to do. I liked Ness's request because I like to do looks that I wouldn't normally wear during the week on the weekend when I can rock it anywhere!

I did this look and wore it out the same day to go out to lunch and run a few shopping errands and I got an overwhelming amount of attention and gratfully courtious compliments from so many people! I was suprised! I even asked my mom if she thought this look was too much to wear to work and she said, "No, it looks like any other makeup look you would wear!" Haha, I thought that was funny because here I thought I was being all couragous with my makeup that day! ^_* & my sister said, "My eyes looked like a sunset!" I thought that was sweet, and sorta true! ^_^

Look of the day - Coral Crepe

MakeupByKaylena >> 12:01 PM >> , ,

Hey Chicas!

Today I did a look using alot of the new stuff I bought in my recent Pret a Papier haul.
I really liked the way this look turned out. I did this look yesterday, only a more toned down version using a few different colors. I only used 3 shadows for this look so it was super fast and super simple to do.

I was eager to try out this Coral Crepe Paint Pot because I love the color! This paint pot would be a good base with anything you want a sort of ruddy undertone with.

MAC HAUL - Pret a Papier

MakeupByKaylena >> 2:48 PM >> , ,

Hey Chicas,

I recently got a package in the mail from MAC! It was the stuff I ordered from the Pret a Papier collection that is currently in stores. I have to admit I wasn't too thrilled about this collection as a whole, but there are a few things that are different that I wanted to try and add to my personal collection. Most of the colors are netural based and matte. Not that I don't like neturals, I just wasn't like, "I HAVE TO HAVE EVERYTHING FROM THIS COLLECTION!"

So here is everything I got...

Look of the Day - Smoke and Diamonds

MakeupByKaylena >> 4:06 PM >> , ,

Hey Chicas,

Today I did a really simple quick and easy look. I did a daytime smokey eye. I used alot of neturals and a matte black shadow to create a subtle smokey eye.

I went shopping yesterday for giveaway prizes and ended up finding the Revlon gloss I was on the hunt for, in Peach Petal. I also bought Revlon's Soft Nude lipstick, finally. These two together is heaven and it went perfect with the netural daytime smokey eye!

Look of the Day- Shimmer Water

MakeupByKaylena >> 2:46 PM >> ,

Hey Chicas,

This is my look for Friday! I'm in love with this look! I used a MAC shadow I don't use very often that is going to be premoted (although it is a perm. color) in MAC's upcoming To the Beach Collection, and that color is Shimmermoss. It's a fabulous green, teal color and I think it would be awesome paired with either green or blue shadows, like Freshwater. It's the blue I used today in my look, hence the title "Shimmer Water." ^_^

I rarely use it, although, it is a newer addition to my collection, but since summer is on it's way soon, I thought I would use it today with a deeper vibrant blue to create a sea like effect to my lid !

I guess it worked because today it is sooo rainy outside, haha. I still think it's absolutely beautiful and pairing it with a gold liner on the bottom lashline is a winning combo.

I think this summer I'm going to like wearing blues, teals, and greens. Theses shades are growing on me more and more each day. I think they look good with brown eyes and are a great shadow paired with dark hair, and olive skintones.

Please read more for other pictures and the products I used to create this look...

Look of the Day: Kaylena's Desire

MakeupByKaylena >> 3:07 PM >> , ,

Hey Chicas,

Here is my look of the day. I wore this last night when I voulnteered at a child care center.
I wanted to wear something subtle but, you know how I am, I'm still fearless with makeup..
..so I decided to go with a toned down purple look, that still had some fierce-ness going on! ^_^

When in doubt I tend to gravitate toward purples, it's like my safety net, my all time "go-to" color. I liked it so much when I wore it last night, I just had to wear it again today!

I used a soft pink color on the lid and used a couple purples in the crease. I use a different shape then I usually use and tried to keep the color simple and light and I like how it turned out on my eye shape.

Sometimes I can't pull off some looks because of the shape of my eye, but this one I could! I also got to use my new Revlon Super Lusterous Lip Gloss in Lilac Pastelle, it looked fabulous paired with this eye!

Look of the Day: Colour4 = Fierce Gold'n Goddess

MakeupByKaylena >> 3:16 PM >> ,

Hey Chicas,

Today I did another simple look. It is a golden goddess look & it's absolutely gorg! For this look I used a limited edition quad from MAC that came out with the Colour Forecast Collection. I used the "Colour 4" quad with the bronzey brown shades!

This is a great quad because you can wear this on an everyday basis for a nice simplistic netural eye, or you can smoke it out and add some deeper colors in the look for a great night eye look as well!

Today I just used it for a simple bronzey netural eye look. I was in a hurry this morning and this quad always does the trick of making my look like I worked hard at my make up when I didn't have to work hard at all!

Lady Gaga "Telephone" Inspired Look

MakeupByKaylena >> 6:22 PM >> , ,

Hey Chicas!
Today I have another look inspied by the many beautiful looks in Lady Gaga's "Telephone" music video. I loved this look in the music video, and I think it's one of the more unique looks I've tried to re-create!

I used the same technique she used I just changed the shape a bit to suit my eye shape, and I used a more vivid shade of blue. This was a great opportunity to use my new Chatterbox lipstick from a recent MAC haul!! I was so excited that I could use it in this gorgeous look! I also used a lighter foundation (as you will be able to see in the photos) to mimic her stunning pale, doll like skin tone.

Lipstick Review - MAC Fresh Salmon

MakeupByKaylena >> 1:08 PM >> , ,
Hey chicas!

You are all probably wondering why I haven't done a look of the day or a tutorial all week, and that is because I like to every once and a while give my skin a break from wearing alot of makeup.

This week I have been wearing my glasses to give my eyes a little chance to breathe and I usually pair that with wearing minimal makeup for about a week. I try to do this every couple of months to make sure my skin has a chance to breathe and heal if it needs to do so.

I will however, do a tutorial near the end of the week or this weekend on some makeup looks that you can wear with glasses, and some of the simple 1-2-3 makeup looks I do to go to work, when I wear glasses.

Anywho..

I have a review for you today!

This is a lipstick called Fresh Salmon from MAC. This lipstick came out with the recent MAC Colour Forecast Collection. This is a lipstick from the Colour 2 Forecast. It is a beautiful vibrant but still sheer bright coral peachy-pink color with a sheen of gold mixed in. This is a great color for tan or light toned skins and is a fabulous summer color. It is also a lustre formulation which makes it buildable, shiney on the lips like a gloss and moisturizing as well.

Gladly I can say that I went online the next morning and they had both in stock on MACCOSMETICS.COM and I bought them there! Phew that was a close one! !_!

Look of the Day - Pastel Pinks and Purples

MakeupByKaylena >> 1:00 AM >> , , , , ,

Hey Chicas!

I did a really pretty pastel look today using pinks and purples! I felt like Frenchie's hair in "Grease" haha! I wanted to use my new Designer Purple, Pearlglide Intense Liner, without doing a dark look or a straight purple look, as I tend to want to do purple all the time. It's my favorite color and favorite eyeshadow to wear! I can't help it, a girl knows what she like!

Look of the day - Night Breed Eye and Hot Pink Lips

MakeupByKaylena >> 11:47 PM >> , , , , ,

Hey Chicas!

I was so inspired when I got a NYX Lipsgloss in Dolly Pink to do a look with it! It's such a beautiful and vibrant hot pink color! I found a picture I used to help achieve this look and when I saw the picture of this look Kim Kardashian wore in a shoot, I knew I had to do it using this lip color!

Gradient Greens - Look of the Day!

MakeupByKaylena >> 4:57 PM >> , , ,

Hey Chicas!
Hope your having a great weekend!
This is the look I wore on Friday and last night to go out! It's a really simple gradient green look. Starting out with a very light color then "gradually" moving into a more intense pigmentation and variations of the same hue to achieve a gradient of shades on the eye.
